Customs & delivery

What you should know about importing from Turkey.

A.TR customs union

Most industrial goods fall under the EU–Turkey customs union (A.TR movement certificate): no customs duties on import into the EU. Switzerland is not part of the EU customs union; the EFTA–Turkey free trade agreement applies instead.

EUR.1 preferential regime

Certain agricultural products (e.g. olive oil, olives, dried fruit) fall outside the customs union and instead under the preferential agreement using an EUR.1 movement certificate. Reduced duty rates or quotas may apply depending on the product.

Import VAT

Regardless of customs status, local import VAT applies (typically your country's standard VAT rate). It is collected by the freight forwarder at customs clearance.

Delivery times

By truck, transit time between Turkey and Central Europe is typically 2–5 days ex works, depending on destination region and border clearance.
